What is a Tree Steward? Tree Stewards are trained volunteers who care for
landscape and city street trees and teach others about urban forests in their
communities through educational programs, tree plantings and maintenance
assistance. Upon completion of this 42 hour course, which includes a detailed
tree steward manual and helpful resource materials, plus an additional 40 hours
of required volunteer service with area tree steward projects, you become a
certified a tree steward volunteer. Maintenance of tree steward certification is
contingent upon a minimum commitment of 20 hours of tree steward volunteer
service per year.

Tree Steward Volunteer Projects: Increase public awareness of trees,
conduct tree inventories, select and identify trees, plant new trees in parks
and public areas, educate community residents on tree care and urban forestry,
and involve others in caring for community trees.
