TREE CITY USA AWARDS

The National Arbor Day Foundation has recognized 39 Virginia communities with the Tree City USA award. Each community has met or exceeded the following standards set by the Foundation: establish a tree board or commission; write and pass a tree ordinance; document a $2 per capita expenditure on tree related matters; and celebrate Arbor Day. Communities that are first-time Tree City recipients are noted in bold type. The seven communities marked with a “*” exceeded the four standards and have been awarded Growth Awards.
